(GUITARIST FOR STEPHEN PEARCY FROM "RATT")

🎙What do you get started with music?
🎸Erik: At age 5, I asked for an electric guitar, but my parents ended up buying me a folk guitar that was too difficult to play. I struggled to progress with it. In fact, I first took piano lessons for about 3 years, and then, at 15, I got my first electric guitar. From then on, I taught myself using tablature from guitar magazines back in the 1980s.
🎙Mariana: What artists and bands were your main influences?
🎸Erik: In the beginning it was Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen), Angus Young (AC/DC), and Neil Schon (Jurney). Later I followed a lot of the 80’s west coast players like George Lynch (Dokken) and Jake E. Lee (Ratt/ Ozzy Osbourne).
🎙Mariana: What feeling do you remember from the first time you shared the stage with Stephen Pearcy?
🎸Erik: It was exciting! He founded my local band, "VooDoo," in the early 90s. We played Plasmatics music, some Sea Hags, and Ratt's "Wanted Man". I was living in Carlsbad, California, when Stephen Pearcy, Ratt's singer, moved in across the street. I was already into music, and Stephen became a sort of mentor to me. He called my band "Voodoo." We even opened for Ratt at a few shows and got some local radio airplay.
🎙Mariana: Let's say you could share the stage with another artist or band you admire (besides Stephen Pearcy), who would you choose And what song would you play with them?
🎸Erik: I would choose Dennis Hill from "The Project", Dennis and I would like to play "Death Of Me."
🎙Mariana: What are your favorite songs from the albums Smash and View to a Thrill (which you wrote with Stephen Pearcy)?
🎸Erik: My favorite songs from those albums are "Ten Miles Wide", "Passion Infinity", "You Only Live Twice" and "SkyFalling"
🎙Mariana: You had a heart attack at the end of a concert a while back. What can you tell us about that?
🎸Erik: I did suffer a heart attack August 15th of 2023. It was right after a show in Ohio. I was able to get the best treatment at the Cleveland medical center and they gave me 3 life saving stents. I didn’t realize at the time that I had heart disease just like both my parents, and I had 3 deadly blockages that needed immediate surgery. I made a full recovery and have been taken off some heart medications because I’m doing so good.
🎙Mariana: What do you think changed dramatically in you after going through a health situation like the one we mentioned?
🎸Erik: After my medical emergency, I learned not to worry about the small things and to focus on achieving my goals and staying active.
🎙Mariana: I've been watching your stream a bit (Sea Gass Hunters Oceanside), would you like to tell me how that project came about?
🎸Erik: I’ve been renting a room at the beach for 4 years now and some fans asked me if I ever find and sea glass. I didn’t even know what they meant at first. Once I found some, I really enjoyed looking for it while on my beach walks. Eventually I thought it would be a cool lifestyle series on YouTube, so I started making videos of me beach combing and looking for sea glass.

🎙Mariana: ¿Cuáles son tus canciones favoritas de los álbumes "Smash" y "View To A Thrill" (que escribiste con Stephen Pearcy)?

🎙Mariana: Sufriste un infarto al final de un concierto hace un tiempo. ¿Qué podrías contarnos a cerca de esa situación?
🎸Erik: Sufrí un infarto el 15 de agosto de 2023. Fue justo después de un concierto en Ohio. Recibí el mejor tratamiento en el centro médico de Cleveland y me pusieron tres stents que me salvaron la vida. En ese momento no sabía que tenía una enfermedad cardíaca, al igual que mis padres, y tuve tres bloqueos cardíacos mortales que requerían cirugía inmediata. Me recuperé por completo y me han retirado algunos medicamentos para el corazón porque estoy muy bien.
🎙Mariana: Que crees que cambió en ti después de haber pasado por una situación de salud tan extrema como la que hemos mencionado?
🎸Erik:Después de mi emergencia médica, aprendí a no preocuparme por cosas insignificantes y a concentrarme en lograr mis metas y mantenerme activo.
🎙Mariana: He estado viendo tu stream (Sea Gass Hunters Oceanside), ¿Cómo surgió ese proyecto?
🎸Erik: Llevo 4 años alquilando una habitación en la playa y algunos fans me preguntaron si alguna vez encontraba vidrio marino. Al principio ni siquiera sabía qué significaban. Una vez que encontré un poco, disfruté mucho buscándolo mientras caminaba por la playa. Con el tiempo pensé que sería una serie genial de estilo de vida en YouTube, así que empecé a hacer videos de mí mismo buscando vidrio marino en la playa.
🎙Mariana: ¿Dónde te gustaría dar un concierto?
🎸Erik: Sería genial tocar en el Madison Square Garden, o quizás en el O2 Arena. Incluso un concierto multitudinario en algún lugar de Sudamérica sería genial.
